A leading band in progressive rock they have become one of the most recognized rock bands in the world. They started in college and called themselves tea set initially however after learning another band was called the same they improvised their name to Pink Floyd Sound which was improvised and changed in a final draft to be called Pink Floyd. Their gigs spanned across clubs and their psychedelic performances were often critiqued by many. With their first single peaking in the UK at number 20, it was seen as very controversial because of its contents. Syd Barrett used to abuse heavy drugs and was often uncooperative on their first-ever tour he was later replaced by David Gilmour. They performed their first-ever concert in Hyde park. They toured extensively in 1970 both in America and Europe. Since they released the dark side of the moon in 1973 and it became one of the most commercially successful rock albums of all time. Their Album the Wall too enjoyed commercial success despite the problems they faced while recording. They remain one of the most infamous rock bands to ever exist and have found their place in history as one of the rock bands ever.
