Considered to be one of the most influential bands of the 20th century for their contributions to rock music. Started under the name the detours, They became famous for smashing their instruments on stage. They gained further acclaim from regular pirate radio stations as well as a television appearance in the show Ready Steady Go. Their tracks became so popular that one of their tracks Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere became the theme song of Ready Steady Go. Their single My Generation peaked at number 2 on the UK charts and their debut album called My Generation was a hit. They also released I can see for miles which hit number 10 in the UK charts as well as number 9 in the US. Their album Tommy too was a huge commercial success. They even released a movie called Tommy which was nominated for the academy award for best score. The theme reached number 1 in the UK and number 2 in the US. Their success waned time and again as the members clashed against each other a lot. However, they remain a classic to this day setting an example for many newer bands to date.
The concert featured here is from 1970 The Isle of Wight Festival in Newport Isle of Wight. They were promoting their album, Tommy. They had achieved a significant amount of fame during the time and were very well known in the Rock music industry.
