The Piano Man himself Billy Joel learned to play the piano at a young age. His parents were Nazi reign survivors and kept him estranged from the same. He started with his influence from the Beatles in a rock band his first solo album Cold Spring Harbor was a commercial disappointment though it had some fan favorites which were often overlooked. His signature song the Piano Man came out in 1973. His next album Turnstiles too was unfavorable and had modest sales and it was not until his third album The Stranger that he gained critical acclaim. 52nd street was his next hit and won him a Grammy award. His next album the glass houses became his number one he released this as he was often called a soft rock artist and wanted to prove the fact that he can do rock numbers justice.
