Calling themselves The Colors, The Bangs after discovering that the bangs were taken, they settled on Bangles. They released their first-ever single ‘the real world’ which was distributed by Faulty products and eventually by I.R.S Records. They released their debut album with Columbia records called ‘All Over the Place’. The album became very successful and featured Leonard Nimoy in one of its album videos. This further launched them into popularity and publicity. Prince wrote the song Manic Monday for them which peaked at the Billboard charts at number 2. They released their second-ever album in 1986 called Different Light was another hit on the Billboard charts. Launching them into further fame they also released a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘A Hazy Shade of Winter ‘which became another hit and was also the soundtrack of the film Less Than Zero. Their next album Everything was released in 1988 it became a hit worldwide and charted very well on the Billboard charts. The group split in 1989 and then had a reunion in 1998.
The concert featured here is live from Pittsburg in 1986 the band is performing their album walk like an Egyptian. The song walk like an Egyptian was a hit and was one of their best songs to date.
