They despise their name and wish to be acknowledged as Daryl Hall and John Oates. They met as rival band members but eventually found common interests and became friends. However, they did not produce music together seriously till 1970. While being signed to Atlanta records they were not able to produce a single hit song. After signing with RCA records they were able to produce a new album called Daryll Hall and John Oates which was finally met with success. Their next album Bigger Than Both of Us, released in 1976 too was successful. Their next album X-static was not much of a success either however their next album Voices released in 1981 charted well and was popular among critics and audiences alike. The next album called Private Eyes was released in 1982 and was regarded as their best work in the 80s. They then released H2O in 1982 which was another success and was popular among fans and critics. Their next projects Rock and Soul and Big Bag Boom were released in 1985 and deemed them the best duo in the 80s. Live at the Apollo marked a hiatus for the duo and was commercially successful. Their next albums were their last which include Do It For Love and Home For Christmas. After that, they did not release any music even though there were rumors of releasing a new album.
The concert here is from Their Liberty Concert in New York 1985 and they can be seen performing from Big Bag Boom along with some of their most popular pieces.
