In a dystopian version of England, Alex and his "Droogs" frequently indulge in "a little of the old ultraviolence" while merrily singing "Singin' in the Rain" at the Korova Milkbar. After being imprisoned for fatally beating the Cat Lady, Alex agrees to a behavior modification procedure in order to be released; in return, he is taught to detest violence. After being released back into society without any form of protection, Alex is harmed by his former victims.
