Captain Willard, a once-promising officer who has supposedly gone utterly insane, embarks on a risky and more hallucinatory expedition upriver in 1970's Vietnam in order to locate and eliminate Colonel Kurtz. Willard journeys deeper and deeper into the shadows with the help of a Navy patrol boat full of street smart youths, a surfing-obsessed Air Cavalry officer, and a crazy freelance photographer.
