Billy Jack

1971 Directed by Tom Laughlin

Billy Jack, a former Green Beret who is half-Indian and half-white, is becoming more and more connected to his Indian heritage. He despises violence, yet in the world of the white man, he cannot avoid it. The film portrays defining late 1960s themes and messages: anti-establishment, make love not war, the senseless slaughter of God's creatures, the rape of society (both figuratively and literally), two-sided justice, racial segregation, and prejudices. The good guys are the students of the peace-loving free-arts school in the desert against the Democratic bad guys in the nearby town.
