The city of Los Angeles is overseen by angels Seth an angel who guides people to the great hereafter is on his way to guide a man undergoing heart surgery. He observes the sheer efforts of the doctor Maggie Rice trying to save him. He stays to observe and becomes visible to Maggie, they eventually fall in love and Seth is inspired to forego his immortality and live as a mortal.
