Because of his large nose, soldier and poet Cyrano de Bergerac is in love with Roxane but is reluctant to admit it. Christian, a cadet, seeks Cyrano for assistance in telling Roxane that he likes her. Roxane doesn't aware that Cyrano is the one who signs his love letters using Christian's name, but Roxane falls for his words. Cyrano keeps the other man's secret even when tragedy strikes, and she marries Christian.
