European who enjoys opera Brian Fitzgerald resides in a tiny city in Peru. This foreigner, better known by his stage name Fitzcarraldo, is driven to build an opera theatre in his hometown and determines that in order to realise his dream, he must succeed in the rubber industry. Fitzcarraldo devises a complex scheme that requires an especially amazing achievement — moving a large boat over a mountain with the aid of a group of Indians — in order to become a prosperous rubber baron.
