Clark Griswold and his wife Ellen are travelling from Illinois to a California theme park while being accompanied by their kids. The Griswolds deal with automotive troubles and a family member's death while Clark becomes more and more fixated on a stunning woman driving a sports car. They arrive in Los Angeles, but Clark takes quick action to get his family to the park out of fear that the journey may be derailed once more.
