Agent 009 was slain in East Germany while holding a false Fabergé egg, and James Bond has been tasked with solving his crime. The investigation leads to India, where a mysterious woman runs a smuggling operation while disguising herself as a travelling circus. Her true motivations, however, turn out to be much darker, as Bond learns of a conspiracy to blow up a US Air Force installation in West Germany.
