A mysterious figure named "Preacher" shows up in town as landowner Coy LaHood begins using a gang of hooligans to terrorise a bunch of small - town gold miners into ceding their territory. Preacher repels the assaults before going straight to LaHood to negotiate. LaHood sends in Marshall Stockburn to kill Preacher and the others when the miners, led by Hull Barret, reject the terms.
