Rocky Balboa intends to retire and settle down with his wife, Adrian, after winning the boxing championship belt back once more. Ivan Drago, a huge newcomer from Russia, brutally beats Rocky's friend Apollo Creed to death during an exhibition battle. Rocky travels to Russia to train for a battle on Christmas Day and swears vengeance on Drago. Despite using various training techniques, Rocky and Drago engage in a protracted and brutal battle.
