At a truck exhibition, Big Enos wants to purchase a Coors Light, but in 1977, selling Coors Light east of the Mississippi River required a permit. Bo "Bandit" Darville, a truck driver, promises to pick up the beer in Texas and transport it within 28 hours to Georgia. Bo draws Sheriff Buford T. Justice's notice when he picks up hitchhiker Carrie. Justice engages in a swift pursuit of Bandit out of frustration that Carrie won't wed his son.
