With the aid of his tomboy best friend Watts, Keith Nelson, an artistic outsider in high school, seeks to get a date with popular girl Amanda Jones. However, Hardy Jenns, Amanda's snobbish ex - boyfriend, is offended by his advances and decides to do revenge. When Watts discovers she likes Keith more than simply as a friend, she attempts to persuade him to quit pursuing Amanda, which complicates things even more.
