Another starship from the United Federation of Planets is preparing to test the planet - creating Genesis Device in a supposedly uninhabited area of space, while Adm. James T. Kirk and Capt. Spock supervise students at Starfleet Academy. In the process, Khan, an adversary Kirk believed he would never encounter again, captures two of Kirk's officers. Kirk takes control of the Enterprise once more and engages Khan's vessel in a battle across the galaxy.
