The family's oldest daughter Michelle Marvin has her legs crushed by the rubble after a subterranean earthquake shakes up the ruinous area. The ship makes an attempt to travel towards the nearby island of Bimini for assistance, but they get caught in a storm, run aground on some rocks, and suffer damage to their engines and helm.
