Sam Dalmas, an American author, resides in Rome with Julia, his girlfriend. Sam observes a failed murder attempt by an unknown figure while at an art gallery. Sam soon establishes himself as a crucial witness in the continuing police investigation because the alleged attacker is thought to be a notorious serial killer. Sam learns that he might be the next victim after starting to look for signs that could point him in the right direction.
