Three film students go to a tiny village to gather documentary material on the Blair Witch, a rumoured local murderer, according to found video footage. The students spend several days interviewing locals and gathering evidence to back up the story's truth. But when the students become lost in the woods and start hearing terrifying noises, the experiment takes a terrifying turn.
