Seth Brundle, a scientist, plans to use his finished teleportation gadget to test its effectiveness on himself. He doesn't notice a housefly sneaking in during the procedure, which causes a fusion of man and insect. Brundle first seems to have successfully teleported, but the fly's cells start to take over his body. Brundle's lover is terrified to see the man she once loved turn into a monster as he starts to resemble a fly.
