Bobby Boucher Jr. is a 31-year-old mentally challenged waterboy for a college football team. He is raised by his overprotective mother who is very religious. The coach Red Beaulieu soon fires him for being disruptive. He then proceeds to join the losing rival team for the same position, When he is harassed by a player he beats him up which is noticed by the coach Klein he asks Bobby to play for their team as a linebacker. Klein's losing team soon starts winning.
