In Jakarta, Indonesia, journalist Guy Hamilton finds it challenging to network. Billy Kwan, a dwarf photographer with whom he develops a connection, introduces him to British diplomat Jill Bryant. Bryant develops feelings for Hamilton, and she provides him with crucial information regarding a coming communist uprising. Hamilton remains to continue the investigation as the city's risk level increases. But as he approaches the authorities, he encounters additional dangers.
