Unreliable U.S. Secret Service agent Richard Chance swears vengeance after the death of his lifelong police partner and sets out to capture perilous counterfeiter Eric Masters. Chance devises a plan to catch Masters with the help of his new, stiff partner, John Vukovich, which accidentally kills an undercover police officer. Chance's concern with justice leads Vukovich to doubt his use of illegal means.
