Tommy is a soundtrack album by The Who with contributions from numerous artists. Sure the album had great songs but director Ken Russell felt the movie needed big stars. So he recruited noted thespians like Jack Nicholson, Oliver Reed, and Ann-Margret, along with rockers like Elton John, Eric Clapton, and Tina Turner, to join the Who in their working class fantasia.
