Giorgio Moroder is a pioneer of Italian Disco music and the score that he composed for Midnight Express won him Academy Award for Best Original Score in 1979. There's something earnest about the synth-driven funk that Giorgio Moroder was able to create with this thing, earning him his first of three Academy Awards.
