He started with stage dramas until he eventually played the role of James Bond. He was the first Bond and set a standard for the people to follow. His talents were recognized by directors like Alfred Hitchcock, Sidney Lumet, and John Huston. He played Bond from 1962 – 1983 and took on various other acting roles offered to him. He retired from acting in 2006 but reprised his voice-acting roles in 2012. A man of many talents Connery has received many honorary awards as well as a place among some of the most legendary actors ever born.
Awards: His achievements in the film were recognized with an Academy Award, two BAFTA Awards (including the BAFTA Fellowship), and three Golden Globes, including the Cecil B. DeMille Award and a Henrietta Award. He was made a Commander of the Order of Arts and Letters in France, and he received the US Kennedy Center Honors lifetime achievement award. Connery was knighted in the New Year Honors for services to film drama.
